Capillary electrophoresis allows a rapid and accurate signature-based measurement for major chronic diseases diagnosis and monitoring and is routinely used in clinical laboratories for screening of serum and other fluids for protein abnormalities.

The Sebia capillary electrophoresis (CE) instruments, CAPILLARYS and MINICAP, have been developed to provide complete automation, with fast protein separation at high resolution. Sebia CAPILLARYS is currently the most widely used capillary electrophoresis system in clinical laboratories worldwide.

Unlike other technologies such as HPLC, Sebia Capillary electrophoresis offers a broad range menu enabling possible consolidation.

All parameters available with capillary electrophoresis methodology can be analyzed on any system within the Capillarys 3 family and the Minicap Flex-Piercing, delivering consistent and reliable analytical performance across platforms.

What is Capillary Electrophoresis?

The Sebia systems use the principle of capillary electrophoresis (CE) in free solution.
 
Charged molecules are separated by their electrophoretic mobility at a specific pH in an alkaline buffer.
 
Separation occurs according to the electrolyte pH and electroosmotic flow. CE has a steady flow, compared to the pumped parabolic flow of the High-Performance Liquid Chromatography technique (HPLC). The steady flow results in narrower peaks and better resolution.
